Interact Thanksgiving Food Drive 11/15-11/22/10

The Interact Club's first event is a Thanksgiving food drive for the South Florida Urban Ministries. Donated food will go to the migrant farmers in Homestead. Please help out by bringing canned food, boxed stuffing, etc. to school starting Monday, Nov. 15th and ending noon on Monday, Nov. 22nd. Boxes will be located in front of the guidance offices and next to the boat in the front entrance.

Here is some food for thought. The food bank handed out 24 million pounds of food in 2009 to South Florida. It projects an increase to 31 million pounds by the end of the year. Four in 10 older Floridians choose between food or paying utilities each month. One third choose between food and gas. One out of six Americans are hungry. With 690,000 South Floridians living in poverty, everyone needs to pitch in.
